Better™ Gift Shop has debuted its first collaboration with Salomon Advanced, linking up with the technical footwear specialist for a new hiking release. The collaboration features the Shelter CS WP, a Salomon hiking silhouette, which has been finished in an all-new colorway by the Toronto-based brand.
The shoe is dressed in “Olive” tones, inspired by Forest 4 (2005), an artwork by Gerhard Richter. The muted “Olive” colorway is offset with “Lavender” detailing on the lace loops and lining in tribute to the Munstead Lavender Plant. The plant was chosen as an inspiration as it can survive for 20 years in the mountains, a nod to the shoe’s durability and versatility.
The Better™ Gift Shop x Salomon Advanced Shelter CS WP boot also features some of the French label’s signature technical innovations. A Climashield membrane is included to insulate, wick away moisture and protect against wet conditions, while the rubber toe and heel cap adds durability and the Contagrip outsole is constructed from high-wear abrasian-resistant rubber.
Speaking about the collaboration, Better™ Gift Shop designer Jordan Thomas explained the design, “Technical gear in urban environments makes our day-to-day lives more seamless. The shoe is intended for everyday use in different outdoor and urban environments that make each metropolitan area unique. Whether you’re in Toronto, New York, Paris, or Tokyo, concrete and forest are only separated by a train ride, so we wanted to create something that could straddle both terrains.”
