43einhalb Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary With KangaROOS Runaway "LUPUS" Collaboration
A continuation of the two’s Coil-R2 “OVIS” sneaker from 2015, handmade in Germany and limited to a mere 800 pairs.
German sneaker boutique 43einhalb is celebrating its 10th anniversary by collaborating with KangaROOS on a special Runaway dubbed the “LUPUS.” A follow-up to the two’s Coil-R2 “OVIS” from 2015 — which explored the concept of good and evil through the ancient Chinese myth of the black sheep — the “LUPUS” is all about the “hunter becoming the hunted,” and translates this ethos through a combo of a wolflike gray color palette and premium materials.
Light, medium and dark gray shades all take up residence on the nubuck leather upper, cut through with a black streak on the midfoot. Branding is handled by a debossed KangaROOS logo on the lateral quarter, a “ROOS” spellout under the collar, a wolf’s head on the heel and co-branded leather tongue tags plus metallic silver lace deubres. Soft alcantara fabric is used on the collar lining, insoles are stamped with a signature “LUPUS” print and white EVA foam midsoles work with icy gray outsoles to round off the look.
The 43einhalb x KangaROOS Runaway “LUPUS” is limited to 800 individually numbered pairs, all of which are constructed in Germany at the Muenchweiler-based Hummel & Hummel shoe factory. It’s also accompanied by four sets of laces and packaged in a special box. Expect it to touch down at the 43einhalb webstore April 30, with a MSRP of €289.95 EUR (approximately $360 USD).
