Bamford Watch Department (BWD) is at the centre of a four-brand collaboration that started when modern artist Daniel Arsham made enquiries about a custom watch.

Arsham initially approached BWD founder George Bamford two years ago, asking if his customization studio could create a unique Franck Muller Casablanca for him.

“As we were talking about all of the different details on it, things got more and more intricate and complex,” explains Arsham. “I started thinking about ideas for engraving onto the case and how we could work with Johnny [King Nerd] and integrate the original design ethos of the dial with the Arsham Studio monogram.”

The finished automatic watch is completely wrapped in the Arsham Studio Monogram using a number of different techniques. It is printed on the dial against an Arsham Studio green background, whilst on each of the 39mm stainless steel cases it is hand engraved by King Nerd aka Johnny Dowell. The repeated pattern is also debossed on the watch’s padded leather strap. The A also features as the counterweight on the second hand and replaces the four o’clock hour marker too.

King Nerd used the watch’s large solid caseback to engrave an ‘eroded’ version of the Arsham Studio ‘A’ and a Casablanca logo inspired by the film of the same name.

Just five pieces of the Bamford Watch Department x Arsham x King Nerd Franck Muller Casablanca have been made and are available now via BWD, priced at £15,000 GBP ($20,890 USD).

In other watch news, IFL Watches calls on the services of The Dial Artist for colorful ‘CasiOak’ release.
