'Star Wars: Republic Commando' Gets a Remaster for PS4 and Switch
The cult classic returns to modern consoles on April 6.
A remastered version of Star Wars: Republic Commando will be available for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 6, according to announcements from Sony and Nintendo today. The game will also be playable on Playstation 5 via backwards compatibility.
The enhanced port of the 2005 game comes by way of Aspyr Media, which was also behind a remaster of Star Wars Episode 1: Racer in June 2020 and a mobile release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II in December of last year.
In Republic Commando, players take control of Delta Squad leader RC-1138 (otherwise known as Delta Three-Eight or “Boss”), who commands a unit comprised of three fellow clone troopers: RC-1262 (“Scorch”), RC-1140 (“Fixer”), and RC-1207 (“Sev”). Set amidst the Clone Wars, players direct various missions against dangerously intelligent enemies: from Trandoshan mercenaries to the insect-like Geonosis warriors. A release from PlayStation promises controller enhancements to feel “just right” on the DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers.
Visit the Nintendo and Playstation blogs for further details on the release.
Ubisoft Massive and Lucasfilm Games are also in the process of developing an open-world Star Wars game, which also suggests the end of EA’s exclusive agreement with Lucasfilm to produce all Star Wars games.
