Jean-Michael Basquiat‘s estate and Medicom Toy have quite the working relationship — the late, great artist’s visceral paintings have appeared on Medicom’s famed BE@RBRICK figures a whopping eight times, the latest of which is this new crown-covered iteration. Calling upon the kingly, jagged style of Basquiat’s famous motif, this BE@RBRICK pays homage to his work by interpreting it for a new generation.

Two different options are available: a gigantic 1000% figure that stands over two feet tall, and a smaller 400%-100% set. Each of the chubby bear figures are made of glossy black plastic and feature fully articulated limbs. Golden crowns appear in a repeating print that runs from ears to feet, each accompanied by a small dash of white detailing on its right side and surrounded by abstract gold brushstrokes. Basquiat’s name is spelled out in black and white on the back to round off the look.

These new Jean-Michael Basquiat x Medicom Toy 1000% and 400%/100% BEARBRICKs are available for pre-order now at Japanese stockists like MCT Tokyo, and will ship in mid July. The 1000% is priced at $463 USD and the 400%-100% combo set arrives at $116 USD.
