Lego, Marvel, and Star Wars have officially partnered for a first-of-its-kind Lego Ideas Crossover Challenge. Following a reveal at New York Comic Con, the competition invites builders to combine the two iconic Disney-owned franchises for a chance to turn their fan-designed creations into an official commercial Lego set.
The challenge was announced by filmmaker and Marvel Comics writer Kevin Smith, who is currently penning the upcoming Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles comic book series launching in January 2027 ahead of Star Wars‘ 50th anniversary. “Working on the upcoming Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles comic series has been incredibly exciting, and this Lego Ideas challenge reflects the same spirit of creativity inspired by these two iconic universes,” Smith stated. “This challenge gives fans a chance to be part of something never done before and I can’t wait to see all of the creative Marvel and Star Wars mash ups it inspires!”
Builders can submit original creations across three main categories: vehicles, characters, and scenes—such as reimagining classic starships with superhero tech or bringing characters face-to-face. Highlighting the scale of the crossover, Fede Begher, senior vice president and head of product group at the Lego Group, added, “This challenge is a milestone for Lego Ideas and our fan community. For the first time ever, fans can build with both Marvel and Star Wars in a single LEGO Ideas challenge, unlocking entirely new possibilities for creativity and storytelling.”
Submissions are open now on the official Lego Ideas platform, with fan voting scheduled to begin on December 8, 2026, ahead of the official grand prize set selections in 2027.
