Having dropped the nubuck “Black/Team Red edition” in Japan a few weeks ago, New Balance has not only specified a US release date but has also added two new colorways to the 550 roster. First introduced in 1989, the basketball sneaker was first revisited last year through various collabs, quickly becoming one of the most popular silhouettes of 2020.

Despite the aforementioned “Black/Team Red” going against the grain and boasting a nubuck upper, the two new additions stick to the 550 roots, both coming in a full-leather composition. A tribute to ‘90s ball players, the sneaker features a perforated midfoot, model stamp by the front eyelets, the signature N logo on either side and white-on-white “NB” and “New Balance” branding embossed on the midsole. The black iteration uses a color block aesthetic including gray at the toe box and ankle, all incorporated on the bottom of the sole. However, the white holds a more minimal approach, opting for a full white upper with its gray only seen peeking out from the sole.

The two new New Balance 550 colorways alongside the nubuck “Black/Team Red” are set to launch on the NB website at 10:00AM EST and retail for $99.99 USD.
