In an effort to further expand into the gaming market, HP has now acquired gaming peripheral maker HyperX.

According to a report from Engadget, the acquisition of the Kingston-owned company was worth $425 million USD, and brings into HP a whole new roster of gaming peripherals and accessories such as keyboards, mice, headsets, microphones, and console-related devices, although Kingston will retain ownership over HyperX’s storage and memory businesses. The deal is expected to close during the second quarter of 2021.

“HyperX is a leader in peripherals whose technology is trusted by gamers around the world and we’re thrilled to welcome their outstanding team to the HP family,” said HP’s president and CEO Enrique Lores in a statement. “We continue to advance our leadership in Personal Systems by modernizing compute experiences and expanding into valuable adjacencies. We see significant opportunities in the large and growing peripherals market, and the addition of HyperX to our portfolio will drive new sources of innovation and growth for our business.”
