FUTUR and Mountain Research Tangle on a Colorful Capsule Collaboration

FUTUR‘s thoughtful approach to skate style has made the French label a favorite in Japan, leading to a series of collaborative efforts with the likes of Mizuno and Helly Hansen. Its latest team-up is with long-running apparel brand Mountain Research, described as “a versus collaboration and not an ['x'] project” by FUTUR: hence the title FUTUR vs Mountain Research.
The collection is a straightforward offering of T-shirts and one buttoned shirt, drawing from the Japanese label’s stylistic cues. One tee boasts Mountain Research’s “Anarcho Mountaineer” verbiage in the bright Olympic hues utilized by FUTUR’s original T-shirt designs, while its counterpart sports a double mountain image in stark red and blue and the “FUTUR VS MOUNTAIN RESEARCH” branding. Also on hand is a new edition of Mountain Research’s signature animal embroidery shirt, elevated here by colorful stitched renderings of critters that live in the French mountain ranges.
