Stone Island Celebrates Four Decades of Expertise With SS22 Collection
Marking the label’s 40th anniversary.

Beginning its 40th anniversary celebrations, Stone Island has given a first look at its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The new range showcases four decades of fabric and material expertise, with new and innovative techniques mixed with references to the Italian label’s long and storied archive.
A number of pieces in the collection form the 82/22 anniversary capsule, with archival garments recreated into new fabrics. This includes outerwear from PIATTINA 82/22 — a shiny and transparent canvas constructed using polyester monofilaments and flat nylon threads — used to showcase a black polyester and cotton jacquard graphic. The 82/22 capsule features sweatshirts, tees and cotton jersey shorts alongside the outerwear.
Elsewhere, Stone Island returns to its Marina line, with stand-outs including marine camouflage pieces and outerwear constructed from 3L GORE-TEX and recycled polyester, and the Ghost collection, for a range of totally monochromatic garments. GORE-TEX also returns on a packable windbreaker and vest constructed from Paclite, the most breathable and easily packable fabric given GORE-TEX”s black diamond label.
Another stand-out fabric is the Heat Reactive Lamy, which changes color according to temperature, with transformations including yellow to orange and light blue to bluette. For SS22, Stone Island also introduces its Off-Dye OVD treatment onto ripstop and cotton mesh or just cotton ripstop jackets, giving them a unique finish through corrosive resins and over-dyeing.
Stone Island’s full SS22 collection can be seen in the gallery above, with all pieces scheduled to arrive in the new year.
