Take to the Slopes With Kim Jones and Peter Doig's Dior Ski Capsule
Standouts include a Dior sled and snowboard, a snowy mountainscape sweater, and the cashmere throws.
Ahead of Dior‘s return to London for its upcoming men’s runway show next week, Kim Jones taps Peter Doig once again for the release of its Winter 2021 ski capsule.
Doig, who is a renowned British painter, incorporated his work into many of Jones’ designs for Dior’s Winter 2021 collection. Much of the same can be said for the ski capsule, which sees items such as an oversized sweater sport an all-over Doig-penned artwork depicting a snowy mountainscape and a mountain cat in a multicolor technical wool jacquard, cotton, and cashmere mix.
Additionally, Doig creates abstract skiing references and plasters them onto brightly colored jacquard knit jumpers, or depicts other snowy scenes on blankets made from cashmere. Aside from this, skiing necessities such as a snowboard (which retails for £6,000 GBP, or around $8,000 USD) and a pair of skis that cost £7,000 GBP, or almost $9,300 USD, also appear in a signature shade of Dior blue, that’s somewhat metallic thanks to the oblique motif running through it.
Accessories such as goggles are available in various eye-catching hues, as are gloves, hats, and helmets, and the boots and matching low-top shoes that released as part of Doig and Jones’ Winter 2021 collection are now served up in more wintery tones, such as icy blue, alongside the original black, brown, and beige iterations.
