Japanese automaker Subaru has finally released a teaser video previewing how the company’s first-ever electric car — the Solterra 4×4 crossover — will look like.

While the video itself keeps a dark veil over how the whole exterior of the car will look, it did offer shots of various closeups in different angles to show off some of the EV’s detailing. From what we can see, the Solterra largely resembles Toyota’s bZ4X concept car, albeit with a sportier and perhaps slightly less futuristic aesthetic.

The similarities don’t come as a surprise, however, given that both electric cars are based on the same e-TNGA platform that the two Japanese automakers created together with the purpose of employing across numerous models. As for the interior, the Solterra has a slightly different configuration, carrying bolstered seats and a large mid-mounted display with additional panels below the rotary knob, which it shares with the bZ4X.

Other information regarding the Solterra remains scarce at this point, and Subaru hasn’t announced any official release date yet for the EV, but those in the industry expect a 2023 launch window and a $30,000 USD to $40,000 USD price tag.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Mansory has crafted a carbon fiber body kit for the Audi RS7 Sportback.
