HBO Max 'Game of Thrones' Animated Series Is Reportedly in the Works
As a part of a larger expansion strategy to expand the fantasy world of George R.R. Martin.

An animated Game of Thrones series is currently in the early development stages at HBO Max with meetings with writers underway for an adult-leaning project expansion.
The animation is expected to be part of the larger-scale strategy to expand the fantasy world created by George R. R. Martin. Though animated, the series is reportedly following in the same mature tone as the original hit TV franchise.
Fans can add this to the growing list of GOT spinoffs that HBO has been eagerly pursuing since the end of the original series. In the meantime, GOT enthusiasts can look forward to the 2022 prequel series, focusing on the Targaryen household, House of Dragon and Tales of Dunk and Egg which explores the adventures of Aegon Targaryen and Ser Duncan the Tall. Other GOT ideas are currently being tossed around, but none have yet to come to fruition.
While HBO has previously developed a number of GOT prequels that never went forward, HBO Max supposedly provides the franchise with a greater platform to build out Martin’s sprawling universe.
Currently, no further production details are available regarding the latest Game of Thrones animated series.
