Jaguar Classic Is Bringing Back Eight Hand-Built C-type Continuation Models
Relive the 1953 Le Mans race from the comfort of your own (very special) C-type.

Jaguar Classic continues its Continuation series with the announcement that it will build eight limited-edition and brand-new versions of the 1950s’ C-type racer.
Following on from its Lightweight E-type, XKSS and D-type Continuation models, Jaguar Classic will put its hand to one of its most legendary race cars for a handful of discerning clients. The model is celebrating its 70th anniversary this decade, and now eight models will be hand-built at the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works facility in Coventry, U.K., each specified to the customer’s wildest wishes.
Based on the 1953 disc brake-equipped model, each car will reflect the historic styling cues of the 1953 Le Mans car. Each will be fitted with a 220 HP 3.4-liter inline-six engine with triple Weber 40DCO3 carburetors and disc brakes, while an optional FIA-approved Harness Retention System can also be added for a more realistic and original feel.
The car is made using CAD scans to create the most like-for-like reproduction possible, while original drawings and company records further helped Jaguar Classic produce the Continuation model. Enthusiasts will also be able to take advantage of the CAD information, as the British marque will launch a configurator that allows customers to visualize their C-type in a variety of color and trim combinations alongside optional racing roundels, steering wheel badges, and hood badging.
No word has been said on just how much a C-type Continuation will cost, but expect it to be astronomically high as these eight models will be collector’s items for the utmost distinguished Jaguar aficionados. Just 53 original C-types were built back in the 50s with only 43 being sold to the public — now eight more will join the line-up, destined to be used for historic racing, track and closed-road use.
