Suicoke‘s appeal is universal. From Tyler the Creator to luxury retailers to emerging fashion brands, seemingly everyone wants a piece of the Japanese footwear label. It’s no wonder that it’s international team has been able to stay busy during the coronavirus pandemic, with plenty of orders to fill and partnerships to organize.

From Canada to Italy to parts unknown, we checked in with the team back in May to see what they were doing to stay occupied in between talking sandals.

Avi Raphael, North America

What’s your daily routine?

I wake up, kiss my family on the forehead, work out for about an hour, bench press my twin boys (55 pounds per boy/arm), have breakfast with my beautiful wife and kids and start quarantine/Groundhog Day again!

Where in your home do you like to work?

I move around a lot, but my absolute favorite spot is outside next to the fireplace. I can spend hours there!

What do you wear while working from home? Any shoes?

I wear my Suicoke to lounge around then switch to New Balance when things get a little more active. I’m usually wearing something loose and flowing. Kimono are my go-to. I have over a dozen color options!

What are you eating now?

I am currently very focused on a plant-based diet and we have been going on a culinary journey of the world right in our kitchen. Lots of fruits and veggies with a Beyond Meat treat thrown in from time to time.

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

My family really helps me stay grounded. They don’t fully understand the magnitude of what is going on, they are just happy to have me around that much more. Their smiles and laughter keep me going through the difficult downtimes. And a glass of red wine doesn’t hurt either.

What are you listening to, watching and/or doing for fun?

The Last Dance has been our weekly ritual. After that we go to the front of the house and shoot hoops. That’s when I show my kids who’s boss on the court!

Enrico Pasi, Europe

What’s your daily routine?

Wake up at 8 a.m. and make myself a super healthy breakfast, a short walk with my dog and then I head to my home workspace to start the daily tasks. First, I call my office in Japan to catch up with the latest updates then it’s the time to check in with our distributors in Europe and the Middle East.

Where in your home do you like to work?

I made myself a workspace in the porch so that I can enjoy some bright light and fresh air.

What do you wear while working from home? Any shoes?

I prefer to stay cozy and cool so my outfits generally feature a track pant, T-shirt or bowling shirt and of course Suicoke sliders; MOTO are my favorite

What are you eating now?

Reflecting an Italian cliche, I love cooking. At the same time, I prefer to eat healthy, respecting a balanced diet, so often fish, vegetables and sometimes pasta!

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

I enjoy long walks with my dog and I play sports on a daily basis. Sometimes I play games to distract myself (my last game was Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice).

What are you listening to, watching and/or doing for fun?

I listen to iTunes while working, recently I downloaded The New Abnormal by The Strokes. I watch Netflix every evening too, I recently watched The Last Dance, which brought back many childhood memories.

Mario Rodriguez Lo, Asia

What’s your daily routine?

I hop in the shower as soon as I wake up, make myself breakfast and go over the news. As soon as I’m done with breakfast, I review daily tasks and start working. I usually take my moped out for a ride to grab take-out lunch. I take some time out to workout and finish my day with movies and Netflix.

Where in your home do you like to work?

I work in my living room on the sofa. The sunlight comes in from the windows and I take breaks spying on my neighbors.

What do you wear while working from home? Any shoes?

I usually just put on T-shirts and shorts. No shoes at home! I’ll put on a pair of socks if I’m feeling cold.

What are you eating now?

I usually grab the menu of the day at the local joint when I go out on my moped and I am drinking a lot of water as a 30-day challenge.

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

Going out for a ride usually does the job. I like going for long jogs as well. Listening to music, Netflix and movies also helps.

What are you listening to, watching and/or doing for fun?

I been listening to a lot of jazzy hip-hop, Japanese stuff mostly. Watching the MJ documentary, truly the GOAT.

Jun Her, unknown

What’s your daily routine?

It is odd. I used to be a morning person, starting the day at 5 a.m. Since WFH, the number of hours I sleep has stayed the same, but I am going to bed and waking up later.

There is no routine, but here are things I always try to do daily: Find a problem I can challenge myself to solve. Find a process I can optimize/improve efficiency. Walk/Hike. Yoga.

Where in your home do you like to work?

I have a few spots that I rotate including the balcony, which is becoming my favorite spot.

What do you wear while working from home? Any shoes?

No shoes at home, but when I go for my daily walk, my current rotation is: Suicoke Urich. Suicoke x BAPE. Suicoke Kisee-V (my very first pair). AGE Top Sneakers. AGE Mule Sneakers.

I still prefer to dress up (at least above the waist) for the Zoom/Skype team meetings. Straw hat (It is an old one, but last year, I trimmed the brim and it has become my favorite again), floral pajama shirt and any pair of comfortable black pants.

What are you eating now?

A lot more veggies actually. I have been tapering down my meat consumption last few years and almost going all veggies and seafood right now.

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

My mindset has stayed quite positive actually, perhaps more focused and sharper now. With all the challenges that we currently face, new opportunities to innovate, improve, test, and evolve have been popping up non-stop. This keeps me going.

What are you listening to, watching and/or doing for fun?

Podcasts! Business Wars, The Joe Rogan Experience and HBR IdeaCast. When I need an energy boost: Drunken Tiger’s first album, Year of the Tiger.
