Jeep Goes Hybrid for Its Fastest Wrangler Yet
Boasting a combined output of 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Jeep has created its most powerful Wrangler yet by tapping into an all-new hybrid powertrain.
Combining two transmission-mounted electric motors that generate 135 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine found on the standard model that pushes out another 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, the new Wrangler 4xe boasts a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, making it the fastest version of the off-roader ever created by Jeep.
Aside from sheer power, the automaker has ensured the car can tackle harsh terrains with a roster of other features, including Dana 44 front and rear axles, a full-time 4×4 two-speed transfer case, waterproofed electronics that allow the car to ford through up to 30 inches of water, and an articulated suspension system. With greater fuel efficiency, the new car can make 50 mpg-e with 25 miles just on electricity alone. Finally, you’ll get a payload capacity of 1,280 pounds while the towing capacity comes in at 3,500 pounds.
Available in 2021, Jeep’s new Wrangler 4xe will come in three trims: a standard model, the Sahara, and the Rubicon. Pricing information has yet to be released, so those interested should definitely be on the lookout for more updates to come.
