REASON Returns With New Song "The Soul (Pt. 2)"
His debut project with Top Dawg Entertainment is on the way.
Top Dawg Entertainment and Carson, California’s own REASON has been steadily gaining momentum ahead of his next major release with a number of solid singles and visuals this year. After tapping ScHoolboy Q for “Pop Sh*t” back in May, REASON returns with his new song “The Soul (Pt. 2).”
The song is a crescendo of REASON’s growing confidence and intensity, an homage to how much work the 29-year-old has been putting into himself and his music to get to where he is. It also finds the rapper accepting his newfound fame as more people start to recognize his talent. “I’m having issues cause Moose and Keem keep preachin, ‘you can’t move around solo no more, you gettin’ bigger’/Yeah, I been gettin’ bigger, so much bigger that my ego see my body and it’s struggling to fit up in it,” he raps.
Earlier this year, REASON brainstormed on what the end of the world might look like for his song “Might Not Make It”, then he dealt with being caught up in a cycle of society’s and his own creation on “Trapped In”.
He talked to HYPEBEAST about his music video for “Show Stop” back in January. “Headed into my debut project with the camp, I’m ready for everybody to finally get to hear what we’ve been working so hard on perfecting. It’s been hours and hours of energy and soul poured into what’s coming over the next few months.”
