Celebrate Earth, Wind & Fire Day With Their New "September" Remix
“Do you remember the 21st night of September?”
Last year, the city of Los Angeles officially declared September 21 Earth, Wind & Fire Day so that city residents and fans the world over would have an extra excuse to play the band’s iconic hit “September” over and over on a given day. The first lyric of the song is, of course, “Do you remember the 21st night of September?”
In honor of the celebration, Earth, Wind & Fire have released a new version of “September” with the help of French keyboardist, producer and DJ Eric Kupper who spent the majority of his career focused on house remixes. It’s the second time that the legendary funk band issued an official remix — back in 1999 Columbia released the Phats & Small “September” Remix.
Founder Maurice White passed away in February of 2016 at 74 years old but Earth, Wind & Fire’s legacy lives on. The band had 33 of their songs appear on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a total of six GRAMMY Awards.
