Reason kicked off Top Dawg Entertainment’s year with the release of “Show Stop” last month, which featured ad-libs from TDE frontman Kendrick Lamar. Today he’s back with a brand new single and video for “Trapped In,” tapping Ab-Soul as well as Compton rapper Boogie for well-placed cameos.

Purportedly a part of his forthcoming album New Beginnings, “Trapped In” features production from longtime TDE collaborator Kal Banx, with Reason offloading his diverse flows and raspy tones alongside Ab-Soul and Boogie’s hard-nosed deliveries. Speaking to Lyrical Lemonade about the Jon Primo-directed visual, Reason shared that “the video is about getting caught up in the system, of a cycle we create for ourselves.” He continues, “you’ll notice that everyone is all caught up in their own little pockets and me, Ab, and Boogie are the only ones going around saying what’s up to the robbers and the drug dealers cause we see what’s going on.”

You can watch the visual for “Trapped In” above.

In case you missed it, Reason and Ab-Soul came together last November for another single titled “Flick It Up.”
