REASON and ScHoolboy Q Stick-Up an Industry Listening Party in "Pop Sh*t" Music Video
REASON season is here.
Top Dawg Entertainment‘s own REASON continues to prep his upcoming full-length album with a number of new singles, his latest being the standout “Pop Sh*t” featuring label mate ScHoolboy Q, released late last week.
“Pop Sh*t” is the fifth single from the Carson, California emcee with production from TDE’s in-house producer Kal Banx. It’s a sinister offering that will bring early 2010’s ScHoolboy to mind, which makes it even better that the veteran makes an appearance on this one. The visual was helmed by director Jon Primo with editing handled by Cal Laird. REASON plays two characters at odds which each-other with some Jared Leto-era Joker-inspired masks flashing with neon lighting.
The visual opens up with the rapper thanking his fans and industry executives, welcoming them to his listening party before the former him, before his deal and current standing in the hip-hop world, confronts the party and ultimately takes over. “I was ballin’ way before the bucks, feel like Giannis
Antetokounmpo/ These n*ggas is too slow, done found me a loophole/ Competition, I been takin’ care of n*ggas, it’s a group home,” he raps.
“Pop Sh*t” follows “Might Not Make It”, a narrative that followed his doomsday schedule from kidnapping President Trump to marrying and then divorcing Khloe Kardashian. “Trapped In” found REASON and fellow Carson resident Ab-Soul sparring back and forth for a stand-out lyrical effort. “Show Stop” was his debut release with the TDE camp back in January. He also rounded our 2019 with previous efforts like “Same Ol Sh*t”
“Flick It Up”
