Before his YEEZY partnership with adidas, Kanye West designed two sneakers for Nike that truly kicked off an ongoing interesting moment in sneaker culture. Despite only releasing a handful of colorways of the Air Yeezy and Air Yeezy 2, Kanye and Nike worked on an array of designs that have rarely seen the light of day.

Amongst the unreleased mix is a “Mismatch” colorway of the Air Yeezy 2 that surfaced years ago in a series of poor-quality photos. But now we have our best look yet at the Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Mismatch sampled thanks to sneaker insider ENGLISH SOLE.

An obvious mix of elements taken from the released “Solar” and “Platinum” colorways, Nike ultimately canceled the colorway due to how similar it was to the source inspirations despite Kanye reportedly being a fan of the take. It is interesting to note that the sample is one of one and signed by Kanye West on the midsole.

For more footwear news, the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” recently received a Black Friday release date.
