Snow Peak has already taught us how to make a Takibi bonfire and given us weatherized outdoor kimonos. Now the Japanese brand is branching into another realm of the outdoors: snow.

Befitting its name, Snow Peak has partnered with Mountain of Moods (formerly Man of Moods) to create a capsule of snow-friendly activewear gear. Founded by Masakazu Fukuyama in 2015, Mountain of Moods specializes in snow activewear befitting a rural mountain lifestyle.

The collection takes inspiration from two places relevant to both Snow Peak and Mountain of Moods’ histories: Mount Tanigawa and the village of Hakuba. Mount Tanigawa, found on the border of Gunma Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture, is not only where Fukuyama currently lives but also the homebase of Snow Peak. Hakuba, meanwhile, is the home of Snow Peak’s new concept space, LAND STATION HAKUBA, which opened this March. The Nagano prefecture village was also the base of the 1998 Winter Olympics and where Fukuyama once trained to become a professional snowboarder.

The collection of outerwear is made of recycled polyester, in an effort to create environmentally-friendly pieces. Snow Peak has also revitalized its logo from the 1970s for the capsule, which features a graphic of Mount Tanigawa.

In honor of the launch, Snow Peak and Mountain of Moods created a short film showcasing their research in development of the collection, which you can watch on Snow Peak’s YouTube page.

Pieces from the Mountain of Moods x Snow Peak collection will be available starting Saturday, September 26 from Snow Peak’s online store and select storefronts, with prices ranging from ¥5,800 JPY (approximately $USD) to ¥74,000 JPY (approximately $ USD).
