MIKE and Jadasea Launch 11-Minute Short Film for 'Old Earth' Project
Featuring production by MIKE’s alter-ego dj blackpower and direction by Matter Research .
Back in late-February, New York City-based rapper and producer MIKE collaborated with South London artist Jadasea for their Old Earth effort, an 11-minute offering executive produced by MIKE’s dj blackpower alter-ego with contributions from redLee. Today they return with a collage of sorts, a short film directed by Matter Research with abstract archival imagery edited together through film grain and television static.
Old Earth follows the duo’s “Regrets” music video, a precursor to MIKE’s Weight of the World album. Back in August, Jadasea returned with his ABOUT TIME EP featuring MIKE, Ovrkast and Navy Blue. He rounded out last year with his half-life EP alongside King Krule under producer pseudonym Edgar the Beatmaker.
“N*ggas gotta listen bro. They gotta hear women out and start figuring out what’s triggering them to harm women in the first place,” MIKE told fellow-rapper Sideshow in our “MIKE Wants to Be Present Without Bearing the Weight of the World” feature from July. “Just being responsible and holding themselves accountable. It’s really time to listen and inform yourself, especially if you have any want to be a part of this movement of people trying to free themselves. We all have privileges that we benefit from and n*ggas gotta work through that with compassion and go through this together.”
