Hyundai has unveiled the RM20e, an electric racing car based on the marque’s Veloster city car that delivers 810 HP and 708 lb-ft of torque.

Officially named the RM20e Racing Midship Sports Car, Hyundai’s latest project showcases the next generation of its N Performance line and its capabilities. It can launch from 0-60 MPH in under three seconds, and will hit 124 MPH in just 9.88 seconds, before hitting its road-limited top speed of 155 MPH (although it should be assumed the RM20e will go faster when unlimited for the race track).

The RM20e is rear-wheel-drive and features plenty of aerodynamic components to help it successfully attack race tracks such as the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, where it was tested 420 to 480 times in both wet and dry conditions, accumulating over 100,000 miles in just four weeks.

A large front splitter, rear diffuser and wing help the car stick to the tarmac, while six-piston and four-piston brakes at the front and rear respectively will ensure the car can stop on demand. Rounding out its design is its custom livery, which combines Hyundai racing motifs with electrifying graphics, nodding to the car’s EV nature.
