Summary

Hyundai unveiled the fifth-generation 2027 Tucson, showcasing a larger, boxier design inspired by the brand’s recent Crater concept.

The redesigned interior debuts the centrally mounted Pleos infotainment system, replacing the previous model's dual-screen layout.

Hyundai unveiled the new 2027 Hyundai Tucson, introducing a radical departure from the curvier outgoing model. The fifth-generation crossover steps into a bolder aesthetic utilizing the brand’s Art of Steel design language. Up front, a full-width lighting bar pairs with vertical H-shaped LED daytime running lights while indirect lighting produces a soft glow to emphasize the three-dimensional front fascia. The squared-off front and rear quarter panels, sharp angles running across the door skins and beefy rocker panels give the vehicle a striking profile. At the rear, the design incorporates a light bar and narrow vertical prism lamps equipped with three-dimensionally protruding lenses.

The updated SUV grows in virtually every dimension to cement its position as a highly capable family hauler. The vehicle measures 185 inches long, adding 2.3 inches over its predecessor, while the track widens by 1.5 inches to improve ride quality and expand interior room. The wheelbase now stretches to 109.6 inches, contributing to improved cabin proportions. Second-row passengers benefit directly from the lengthened roof and stretched wheelbase, gaining over an inch of additional headroom while rear doors that open wider allow for easier access.

Inside, the completely new cabin follows modern industry trends by swapping the twin curved displays of the previous generation for a single tablet-like Pleos infotainment system. Floating dashboard elements, orange accents and air vents separating the upper and lower sections create a distinct futuristic vibe. Drivers face a narrow digital gauge cluster and a squircle four-spoke steering wheel. A striking stacked central transmission tunnel and console house wireless phone charging pads alongside plenty of soft-touch materials.

For buyers seeking a more aggressive aesthetic, the XRT variant returns with exclusive rugged styling cues. The adventurous model features a distinct boxy front bumper, a dedicated rear bumper, a prominent skid plate, unique badging and black exterior accents. Inside, the trim includes protective second-row floor mats, while the exterior brings novel touch-sensitive LED tailgate lights into the mix.

While powertrain specifications remain under wraps ahead of the global debut, the vehicle will continue offering a versatile mix of gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. Retail sales will commence in South Korea shortly after the October launch before deliveries to major international markets begin in early 2027.
