Elon Musk Is Now The World's Fourth Richest Man
Surpassing Bernard Arnault and sitting behind Mark Zuckerberg.
Elon Musk, surpassing Bernard Arnault, has just taken the spot as the fourth richest person in the world. According to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, the Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder’s current estimated net wealth sits at $90 billion USD, having surged $7.8 billion USD in a single day after Tesla shares jumped 11 percent on Monday.
Much of Musk’s increased wealth is due to the success of Tesla. The company has seen a remarkable 300% growth this year, despite the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, selling over 179,000 cars in Q1 and Q2 alone. A proxy statement from CNBC reports Musk has a 20.8 percent stake in the company, 38.7 million shares, which is reflected in his growing wealth — Musk earned more than $57 billion USD this year.
Musk now sits behind Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, the latter having recently set a new record for richest man alive.
In case you missed it, SpaceX recently raised $1.9 billion USD in funding.
