Bill Murray and Rashida Jones Are Father-Daughter in Sofia Coppola's A24 Film 'On the Rocks'
French indie-pop band Phoenix will be providing the film score and soundtrack.
Bill Murray and Rashida Jones will be portraying a father-daughter tandem for Sofia Coppola‘s A24 and Apple TV+ film, On the Rocks.
Following the story of Felix (Murray) and Laura (Jones), the father and daughter investigate the possible infidelity of Laura’s husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) as he spends more time going on supposed business trips. The course of Felix and Laura’s investigation brings them all over New York, but they eventually learn more about their own relationship as family members of different age groups.
Speaking to 92Y in April 2o20, Coppola called Felix and Laura’s relationship “the clash between the two generations and her being a young woman and he’s a gentleman of another generation.” She continued, “It’s kind of the clash of how they look at relationships and also how your relationship with your parent affects your relationships in your life…It’s a lot of them talking about life and men and women over martinis in New York.”
The upcoming film marks Coppola and Murray’s first theatrical release since 2003’s Lost in Translation. Jones and Murray will also be joined by Jenny Slate, Jessica Henwick and Barbara Bain.
French indie-pop band Phoenix will be providing the film score and soundtrack, and have dropped the track “Identical” ahead of the movie’s release.
