Run The Jewels Joins Travis Barker for Rock-Infused Single "Forever"
100% of the song’s proceeds will be donated to the Next Level Boys Academy.
After releasing visuals for “JU$T” with Pharrell and Zack de la Rocha, Run The Jewels joins Travis Barker for a new track titled “Forever.” The joint single follows the pair’s RTJ 2 cut “All Due Respect” from back in 2014, and features the Blink-182 drummer’s heavy drum production over grinding synths.
Killer Mike and El-P of Run The Jewels embark on a lyrical battle, both comparing themselves to Russian leaders. “Rap’s Rasputin, I’m pulling pumps on pompous ass preachers and shooting/I’m sittin’ on the last pew-pew-pewin’,” Killer Mike raps. “One day the poor will eat the affluent/Hope you atone for you past doings.” “Balderdash, you not gettin’ it past rap’s Putin/Who ride a horse, bareback, shootin’,” El-P follows. “A champ in the land of the stupid/The kind that take the candy out kids’ hands and laugh in amusement.” The track follows the release of Run The Jewels’ highly-anticipated album RTJ4, which released in June to align with the nation-wide protests that followed the murder of George Floyd.
