NBA 2020 Playoff Mashup Pays Homage to Iconic 'Cowboy Bebop' Intro
Featuring LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and more.
WarnerMedia‘s sports and culture site Bleacher Report has shared a mashup video parody of Cowboy Bebop‘s iconic opening intro to kick off NBA Playoffs season. The footage above features colorful animation inspired by the classic style of the anime set to the original opening’s “TANK!!” by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelt.
The video feature’s the NBA’s premier talent to celebrate the start of the season. Players like LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and more are featured. Spots in the original footage, such as series protagonist Spike firing his gun three times to the beat of the tune, is replaced by a basketball being thrown. Although the NBA has suffered like many industries due to COVID-19, the sport is moving forward inside an isolation bubble in Orlando, Flordia, complete with a cardboard audience and fake applause.
The first four matches began yesterday, all of which include the Utah Jazz against the Denver Nuggets, the Brooklyn Nets versus the Toronto Raptors, the Philly 76ers against the Boston Celtics, and the Dallas Mavericks versus the Los Angeles Clippers.
In related news, the NBA 2k21 demo will be available to play next week.
