Fans have anticipated collaboration between gaming chair manufacturer Secretlab and League of Legends developer Riot Games for years now following similar collabs with Overwatch and Team Liquid. Secretlab was established in 2014 and quickly became one of the most recognizable brands in the Esports community for its comfy, yet extremely pricey gaming seats. Riot Games’ League of Legends is also one of the key titles responsible for the current wave of popularity the sport is riding. And although both brands have a longstanding relationship with each other, this marks the first collaborative capsule LoL has had with Secretlab.

Secretlab announced it will release a series of League of Legends collaborated chairs called The Secretlab League of Legends Champions Collection. It utilizes all the upgrades from the brand’s 2020 Series, which is available in Omega and Titan models. We got our hands on the Omega version of Ahri’s Secretlab gaming chair and got to see if Secretlab’s reputation and the brand’s long-awaited collaboration meets expectations.

The two styles feature the brand’s PU Leather with enhanced durability alongside its smooth PRIME 2.0 PU leather on the upholstery. Cold-Cure Foam on the seat absorbs pressure and provides comfort while the PU-coated metal armrest is able to shift in four-dimensions for maximum adjustability. Our favorite addition to the new seats is its signature memory foam pillows for the headrest and back. It is far superior to any headrest or lumbar cushion we’ve ever personally experienced. Usually, lumbar cushions are strapped into the seat similar to the headrest, but the memory foam here is more of a sofa cushion than anything else, and it’s versatile. It can be leveraged to any height, folded in recline for additional support and feels like a cloud against your back. Apparently, the pillow for the headrest also dissipates heat — luckily we haven’t heated up enough to notice any improvements, but that’s probably the point of the technology.

Each chair in the collection has expressed the MOBA’s unique art style through their intricate embroidery, unique textures and high-quality print techniques. The capsule features Champions Yasuo, Ahri and Akali, alongside her K-Pop incarnation from the K/DA virtual band. Secretlab worked alongside character artists for each character to fully capture the essence of the Champion in detail within the product, and it shows.

The design for Ahri’s chair is our favorite from the entire collection. The patterns on the seat mimic Ahri’s wine red wardrobe, including the gorgeous designs of her firefox and nine tails displayed on the backrest. The gameplay, lore and design of each Champion was considered and later applied to the silhouette, including curated palettes, custom embroideries and other subtle details along the backrest. The golden accents and stitching really make the red and cream colorway. There are also subtle hints of East Asian imagery sprinkled throughout the design that harkens back to the fox spirit of Chinese mythology, where the inspiration for the character originates from.

The position of the adjustable armrest can be spread even further and for us, it drastically improved our comfortability when leaning back. Sitting full-tilt also feels more secure thanks to the chair’s Multi-tilt Mechanism. With the flip of the left lever adjacent to the height adjuster, the chair can tightly lock in and out of position to either keep the back firmly in place or able to recline full-length.

Although Secretlab products are usually pricey and there’s a $30 USD difference for special edition chairs, the quality of its seats is undeniable. And if you’re a LoL fan that’s been holding out on buying a chair, these designs are faithful to their in-game counterparts. The Secretlab League of Legends Champions Collection is currently available for pre-order $389 USD and is estimated to ship out on October 14.
