Marni Gives the Canvas Sneaker a Painterly Rework
In line with the brand’s artsy aesthetic.

The Milanese label Marni is known for its colourful, playful, and arts-inspired collections that stand apart from the more conservative fare of most Italian fashion houses. Under the remit of its creative director Francesco Risso, in recent weeks it’s a look that the brand has applied to everything from PORTER backpacks to household furniture.
Now, the label has given the humble canvas sneaker an artistic rework, with a painted finish around the sole unit. The pair, which have newly landed on MATCHESFASHION, are made in Italy and feature a rubber toe-cap. The heels of the sneakers are also painted with the brand’s logo.
Marni isn’t the only house to have applied a painted finish to its footwear: earlier this month, Alexander McQueen dropped a DIY-effect version of its signature oversized sneaker. Fans of the Marni style can cop the pair now at the Matches webstore, where they are retailing for $563.
