Marni’s New Homeware Collection Is Satisfyingly Crafty

And made in collaboration with Colombian artisans.

Since its inception in the early 1990s, Marni has been synonymous with an offbeat, artsy aesthetic that places an emphasis on colour, pattern, and craft – as evidenced by the label’s off-the-wall presentation for Fall/Winter 2020. Now, the brand is applying that same spirit to a new collection of furniture and homewares.

The ‘Zooterico’ collection draws inspiration from zodiac signs, which inform the colour palettes and textures used throughout. It includes furniture items including stools, chairs, and screens, as well as home objects including candle holders, baskets, and mats.

Highlights include a handmade chaise longue, woven into a striped pattern, which retails for $1,290 USD. Elsewhere, a two-tone iron armchair is patterned in a graphic green and blue finish, and retails at $420 USD.

Under its creative director Francesco Risso, the brand has made conspicuous efforts to adopt a more sustainable and ethical approach to its production. For this collection, Marni has collaborated with a group of Colombian artisans, as part of its efforts to preserve artisanal traditions.

The full collection, which is available now, is being sold exclusively through the online retailer Farfetch.

In other news, the skate brand Aries has collaborated with London students for a new capsule collection of jewellery.
