Ty Dolla $ign Officially Shares "Ego Death" ft. Kanye West, FKA twigs and Skrillex
The house music-inspired track was previously performed at Coachella.
Ty Dolla $ign has released a track alongside some of the industry’s heaviest hitters. The song “Ego Death” features Kanye West, FKA twigs, Skrillex and serpentwithfeet. The tune also plays tribute to classic house music with its funk-laced vocals, hard-thumping bass and rapid percussions. “Ego Death” is actually a song that “expands on “Fade,” West’s homage to Chicago house music that Ty wrote as mentioned in a Spin August 2019 profile. Additionally, the cut was originally performed by Ty Dolla $ign last year during his Coachella set and now, just one day after West released his own “Wash Us in the Blood” track alongside Travis Scott, we get another new West verse.
Upon closer listen, the song reveals a Kanye sample from his infamous 2018 Instagram videos in which he called out Drake for saying he slept with Kim Kardashian before she got with Ye. It starts at the 1:50 mark. “Hold on, this train going by,” Ye said in the videos, a line that Kanye says before kicking into his verse:
Lotta people be thinkin’, but I’m just a sayer / Artists can’t perform the Super Bowl, but it’s okay for the players? / All these half-way movements, need a whole lot improvement / Everybody wanna talk, everybody wanna type /Ain’t nobody finna do sh-t.
In other music news, Lil Tecca just released a new music video for his song “Out of Love.”
