'Tetris Mobile Game' Will Give $5,000 USD Cash Prizes in New "Game Show" Feature
Alongside three additional modes, including Battle Royale.
Tetris Mobile has introduced a new competitive game show mode that rewards players with cash prizes daily within the app. The update contains four new modes, including Tetris Primetime, which is expected to take place every night within the Apple iOS and Android app. The game show will feature New Zealand actor Millen Baird as the host.
Players will be able to log in daily and compete for a $5,000 USD prize pool. The annual grand total for Tetris Primetime cash prizes is over $1 million USD. Each game will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the time zone closest to the “anchor city” of the player. So far, those locations include Auckland, New Zealand; Perth, Australia; Moscow; Berlin; London; New York City; and Los Angeles.
The mobile title will also introduce a new battle royale mode within the app similar to Tetris 99 for the Nintendo Switch. The title takes inspiration from other popular battle royales, pitting users against 99 other players. The goal is to be the last player to survive.
Other modes include Tetris Together, a friendly multiplayer that matches users against friends and family who also own the app. The feature even allows players to talk together via voice chat during matches. Tetris Mobile contains several skins, including one that makes aesthetics similar to the classic game, the Game Boy edition, and several other noteworthy iterations of the classic title. Players can also customize their controls between swipe controls or on-screen buttons.
Tetris Mobile is currently free on both iOS and Android.
In other gaming news, Sony has just invested $250 million USD in Epic Games.
