Boldy James and The Alchemist Present 'The Price of Tea in China' (Deluxe Edition)
Featuring a new visual for his bonus track “Bernadines”.
Who said hip-hop was a young man’s game? Boldy James (37 years old) and The Alchemist (42) delivered one of the best hip-hop albums of 2020 with The Price of Tea in China. The two veterans have built up quite the chemistry since 2013’s cult-classic My 1st Chemistry Set. Late last year the dynamic duo gave fans a taste of what was to come with the short but sweet Boldface and they over-delivered when Price of Tea… premiered earlier this year.
Now their latest deluxe edition adds four new songs including “Pots and Pans” featuring Boldy’s cousin Chuck Inglish and Sir Michael Rocks of The Cool Kids. The other three tracks continue their murky and marauding journey with the buttery smooth “Belvedere”, “Don Flamingo” featuring Elcamino and “Bernadines” for which Al and Boldy debuted a new music video (where the emcee pays tribute to Westside Gunn by rocking his Griselda Pray for Paris hoodie).
Alan the Chemist taps into his penchant for electric guitars on “Don Flamingo” that allows for Elcamino to showcase his skillset at his very best. On “Belvedere”, Boldy raps in duets of past indiscretions in stark contrast with his present. “Rival gang members in the neighborhood, turf-warrin’/ None of this sh*t came overnight, I had to work for it,” he raps. All that work paid off.
