Tesla Mocks Short-Sellers With Short Shorts Release

To poke fun at short-sellers that “shorted” its stock by betting against them, Tesla is marking its 2020 success that defied critics and public opinion with a pair of short shorts.

Building on Elon Musk‘s sense of humor, the limited edition red satin shorts retailed for $69.420 USD. The specific pricing references a 2017 tweet made by Musk where he said that he would take the company private when stock prices hit $420 USD per share. The tweet took over wall street headlines at the Securities and Exchange Commission launched an investigation into Musk forcing him to step down as Tesla’s chairman.

Incredibly the shorts sold out in minutes crashing the Tesla website and are now popping up for resale.

The release of the short shorts was first hinted at by Musk who sent out a Tweet saying, “Tesla will make fabulous short shorts in radiant red satin with gold trim, and a follow-up noting “Will send some to the Shortseller Enrichment Commission to comfort them through these difficult times.” Continuing his move against the Securities and Exchange Commission in another tweet.
