OMEGA Partners With Sailing Team ALINGHI for a Special Edition Speedmaster
Dubbed “Dark Side of the Moon.”
In celebration of their second year in collaboration, Swiss luxury watchmaker OMEGA has created a special edition “Dark Side of the Moon” Speedmaster for the competitive sailing team ALINGHI.
Crafted in zirconium oxide ceramic at a sizeable 44.25mm, the black case is adorned with a similarly toned ceramic tachymeter bezel emblematic of the Speedmaster. Sitting under a sapphire crystal is a black dial textured to replicate the carbon fiber used for ALINGHI’s boat’s hull, paired with an innovative subdial design utilizing a sandblasted and anodized aluminium disc, the sailing team’s logo emblazoned on the 6 o’clock position. Powering the watch is then the in-house Calibre 1865 manual-winding chronograph, featuring a mainplate and barrel bridge with honeycomb effects achieved through a process named laser ablation, again to replicate the carbon fiber used on the boat. To finish the watch, OMEGA has paired the timepiece with a perforated black rubber strap with matching red stitching.
Available now at OMEGA boutiques and various authorized retailers, the “Dark Side of the Moon” ALINGHI Speedmaster retails for $10,800 USD. Learn more over on the watchmaker’s website.
Elsewhere in watches, TAG Heuer has updated its Aquaracer with tortoiseshell bezels.
