Lana Del Rey has shared a new spoken-word piece entitled “L.A. Who Am I to Love You,” taken from her audiobook of poems Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass.

Produced by Jack Antonoff, who also is credited for the soft piano backdrop, the piece hears Del Rey narrate what is essentially her path to fame, noting the ups and downs. She mentions that she “sold my life rights for a big check” and chases other dreams in San Francisco, but returns to L.A. after a heartbreak and asks, “Can I come home now?”

Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is the title poem of the book and the first poem I wrote of many. Some of which came to me in their entirety, which I dictated and then typed out, and some that I worked laboriously picking apart each word to make the perfect poem,” she said in a statement. “They are eclectic and honest and not trying to be anything other than what they are and for that reason I’m proud of them, especially because the spirit in which they were written was very authentic.”

Listen to “L.A. Who Am I to Love You” above. Violent Bent Backwards Over the Grass is available now as an audiobook, with the hardcover dropping September 29.

Elsewhere in music, Logic dropped a visual for “Aquarius III.”
