Nike Readies Space Hippie "Volt" Collection
Vivid new takes on the Space Hippie 01, 02, and 03, alongside a prior iteration of the 04.
After debuting the Space Hippie line in a grey and orange color scheme, Nike Sportswear has prepared a second Space Hippie collection: “Volt.” Made up of new takes on the Space Hippie 01, Space Hippie 02 and Space Hippie 03 plus a previously-seen iteration of the Space Hippie 04, the “Volt” styles retain the conceptual, sustainable build of their predecessors, but flip the script with a fresh color scheme.
Each shoe’s upper is constructed from renewable grey Space Waste yarn, a driving factor in Nike‘s Move to Zero initiative. This yarn is made of everything from recycled bottles to t-shirt and yarn scraps, a “leave nothing behind” ethos that’s continued on the rest of the build. Midsoles are dressed in a soft grey — save for the 04, which opts for a light sky blue — and made of Crater Foam, which combines recycled ZoomX foam for comfort with NikeGrind rubber to provide signature flecked details.
01s and 04s are the most straightforward of the bunch, with standard lace-up builds. The 02 is completely laceless, and adds webbed black stitching for a pop of contrast. Meanhile, the high-cut 03 is inarguably the most unique style with a high-cut sock collar and FlyEase lacing system that’s centered around a marbled plastic anchor point on the midfoot. Each pair is finalized by way of light blue pops, black heel and tongue tabs and neon green Swooshes — save for the 03, which only features a Swoosh above its toebox.
The Nike Space Hippie “Volt” collection’s 01, 02, and 03 silhouettes will release on Nike SNKRS JP July 15, while the 04 is set to arrive on Nike SNKRS in the US come July 3. Prices range from $130-$180 USD.
