IDK Makes TV Debut on 'Colbert' With "No Cable" Performance
Following the release of his ‘IDK & FRIENDS 2’ project.
Rapper IDK made his television debut last night with a moving performance of “No Cable” on Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The track initially appeared on his stand-out Is He Real project and was a fitting song selection given the content.
On “No Cable,” IDK weaves his way through vivid storytelling, waxing about his generation’s lack of attention span, the constant bombardment of information on the news and social media and so much more. While the performance wasn’t through a live feed, the pre-recorded visual did feature a live band backing and cuts through television static. He even commented on the ongoing conversation surrounding the changing of the Washington Redskins‘ name (which was confirmed earlier this week). “We think they winnin’, and speakin’ of winnin’, the Redskins losin’/ That’s a representation of where I’m from/ ‘Cause when the guns pop, we lose a life and that’s the real conclusion,” he raps.
The performance follows his XanMan “RILEY” collaboration and his IDK & FRIENDS 2 project, which also served as the soundtrack to Kevin Durant’s Basketball County documentary. Watch the full rendition above.
