Cassowary Drops Trippy Visuals for "Starlight" Music Video
From the artist’s self-titled album.
Following the debut of his self-titled album, Cassowary returns with a music video for his previously released single “Starlight.” The spacey, jazz-infused track has been married to equally as psychedelic visuals created by animator Kate Diliberto.
The hazy visuals track a cat in the bedroom of an animated Cassowary, playing music on an electric keyboard during an evening rainstorm. Before too long, we are transported into a fever pitch dream that focuses on the constellations, green Martians, and marijuana smoke.
“Starlight is about the allure of fame,” says the 25-year-old artist, whose real name is Miles Shannon. “Wanting to be a star and the infatuation with that, and the difference between becoming an artist and becoming a ‘star’… how and why those things aren’t mutually exclusive. When I approached Kate with the idea, I explained this to her and it was easy for her to run with it. I love her artistry and so that allowed me to really trust her direction and let her have fun with it. What ended up was something beautiful. Kate really laid into the celestial vibes behind ‘Starlight’ and more literally displayed the difference between me as an artist and perhaps me as the star(alien) that I wish to become.”
The music video follows the previously released music video for “Belt Notch!” in February, where he found himself in a wasteland of dating apps.
