Earlier this year, veteran Compton, California rapper Problem dropped his latest extended volume of work with Coffee & Kush, Vol. 1. The 10-track offering featured “Janet Freestyle”, a track where he paid tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle. It was even shared by Janet Jackson upon its release. Today he returns with his “Don’t Be Mad At Me” featuring West Coast legend Snoop Dogg and yet another effortlessly smooth verse from Freddie Gibbs.

Gibbs and Problem connected over six years ago on ESGN‘s “One Eighty Seven”. Their chemistry was notable, and it’s great to see them return with another effort. 2020 has really been a year defined by a veteran presence in the hip-hop world — just comb through HYPEBEAST’s The 25 Best Albums of 2020… So Far recap to see how many rappers over 35 made some of the best records of the year. On the “Don’t Be Mad At Me” Remix, each rapper is over 35 and still bring more-than-solid verses to the track.

The running theme here is each rapper getting their respective love interests to forgive their misdeeds (even if it sounds like there isn’t an actionable plan to change in the future). “Think you know designer clothes?/ They should put me in the PGA, I play a lot of holes/ Tiger Gibbs, I hit a Spanish b*tch out of Italian Vogue,” Gibbs raps. Snoop does open up about some marital infidelity and working through it though.
