Black Noi$e Enlists BbyMutha for Animated "Mutha Magick" Visual
The Detroit producer’s new album ‘Oblivion’ releases August 14 via Tan Cressida.
Detroit producer Black Noi$e is set to premiere his upcoming project Oblivion on August 14 as his debut release on Earl Sweatshirt‘s Tan Cressida imprint via Warner Records. Today he dropped off a new animated visual for his latest track “Mutha Magick” featuring multiple verses from Chattanooga, Tennessee rapper BbyMutha. The video consists of cartoon versions of his friends and collaborators like Earl, Liv.e and MIKE in a jarringly psychedelic display that’s as fun to watch as the song is to listen to.
“Mutha Magick” follows Noi$e’s first song from the project, “The Band” featuring fellow producer and rising singer-songwriter Liv.e (who just released her own outstanding debut album today with the Erykah Badu co-signed Couldn’t Wait to Tell You…). His new track lives somewhere in an alternate universe lodged between Crash Bandicoot soundtracks and Detroit’s 1980s techno scene. BbyMutha continues to prove that there isn’t an instrumental out there that she can’t cater to her flow to. Tan Cressida released the following statement about his signing earlier this month:
“We at Tan Cressida are beyond excited to announce our first non-Sweatshirt release ever! Black Noi$e presents the aptly titled Oblivion to a restless people. For those who don’t know Black Noi$e the person: think Grim from Billy and Mandy with a mean nollie flip and an affinity for life in all its forms. These polarities are reflected in Black Noi$e the music. Shadows and sunlight. Detroit electric soul and 8-bit ghosts and waterfalls. Black Noi$e connects the dots and we are thankful for the opportunity to experience this life and his music. Love, management.”
Black Noi$e started producing music back in high school and was a member of hardcore and punk bands throughout Detroit. “I was always interested in the stuff that wasn’t in the forefront,” he said in a recent press release. “I always appreciated music and just wanted to learn where the sounds were coming from. Where I was from there wasn’t a place to get CDs that weren’t mainstream. I was on the internet. That really helped understand where stuff came from.”
