adidas Y-3 Readies Platform-Style Hicho Silhouette
An elevated take — literally and figuratively — on the classic Campus.

Yohji Yamamoto and adidas‘s long-running Y-3 label is set to roll out its FW20 footwear lineup in the coming weeks, and one of the standout pieces is a new silhouette dubbed the Hicho. A platform take on adidas Originals‘ timeless Campus, the Hicho serves as Y-3’s court sneaker for the fall season, elevating a classic style both literally and figuratively for a bold new look.
Three colorways have been produced: a black/white, an all white and a “Core Black,” the last of which has yet to be revealed. Each strips the Campus’s blocky build back to its bare essentials by using soft leather on the entirety of the upper, even the collar and sockliner. Where the white pair is entirely tonal save for the black Y-3 stamp on its lateral heel, the black/white pair adds white stripes to its medial side for a pop of extra contrast that matches its white Y-3 hit perfectly.
Midsoles stack two pieces of rubber together, with a lift placed between the upper and the traditional Campus midsole. These exaggerated proportions are perfectly in line with Yamamoto’s design ethos, and bolster the Hicho’s elegant build even further. Although “Hi-Cho” means “by fire” in Japanese, it’s unlikely that the smoldering translation has anything to do with the effortless cool of either makeup’s stylings.
The adidas Y-3 Hicho will release at retailers like Sneakersnstuff on July 15, and is priced at $280 USD.
