Gildred Racing Introduces $150k USD, 502 WHP Super Cooper Type S
Combining the 1974 Austin/Mini MK3 with a supercharged Honda V6 engine.
U.S.-based custom builder Gildred Racing has unveiled one of its most interesting projects to date, dubbed the Super Cooper Type S.
This project is limited to just 10 units and completely reimagines the 1974 Austin/Mini MK3. Replacing its standard engine is 3.5-liter Honda V6 that’s been fitted with a Rotrex C38-81 supercharger, forged pistons and much more to produce 502 WHP and 383 lb-ft. of torque.
The Super Cooper Type S is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox that puts all the power down to the rear wheels, making for a car that can achieve 0-60 MPH in under four seconds. Gildred Racing has given the car a set of disc brakes all around, as well as adjustable coil-overs, too.
Inside you’ll find a custom charcoal suede and leather interior with heated and cooled Recaro seats, as well as modern amenities such as a 9.7” iPad Pro integrated into the dashboard, an Alpine stereo, and touch start. Take a look at the Gildred Racing Super Cooper Type S in the gallery above, and find out more about the car on Gildred Racing’s website, where you can inquire to build your own for a starting price of $150,000 USD.
