Joshua Vides, Jide Osifeso and Reigning Champ's "Direct Action" Collection Supports Social Justice
100% of sales — not just the profits — will be donated to the Equal Justice Initiative.
Artist Joshua Vides and designer Jide Osifeso have teamed up with Reigning Champ for a “Direct Action” collection that supports social justice. Consisting of black and gray hoodies plus a black tee, 100% of sales — the total price of goods, not just the profits — will be donated to the Equal Justice Initiative.
Hoodies feature Osifeso’s “Protect And Support Black Life” graphic on the chest. The back offers a Black Lives Matter “BLM” spellout from Vides and a medieval-style cross with BLM branding surrounded by angels from Osifeso. Between these two embellishments sits a long list of names, a somber show of respect to Black men and women who were murdered by police officers.
A lone black tee is even more awash in graphics, moving the list from the hoodie to the chest. There, it sits under a “Direct Action” spell-out from Vides and another cross graphic from Osifeso, which is overlaid by the designer’s “Protect And Support Black Life!” done up in Vides’s font. This co-created graphic is blown up to greater proportions on the back, and placed above a second iteration of the list plus one final BLM hit.
The “Direct Action” collection is available for pre-order on the Reigning Champ webstore, and will ship between July 6-July 10. Hoodies are priced at $165 USD, and tees retail for $75 USD. If you’d prefer to donate to the Equal Justice Initiative directly, you can do so here.
