Austin, TX-based No-Comply Skateshop and Vans have teamed up for a second collection honoring late artist and musician Daniel Johnston. Following up an inaugural capsule that released in 2019, this second collection consists of new takes on the Old Skool, Authentic and Slip-On, all covered in Johnston’s signature doodles.

A white and grey palette with orange accents is used on all three silhouettes. Old Skools and Eras offer Johnston’s artwork in a light grey that blends into the white base it’s placed upon, while the Slip-On notches up the contrast by printing clearly visible black embellishments on its white canvas upper. Each pair uses modern PopCush insoles for comfort, and is brought together by bright orange outsoles with white stars and numbers that mark Johnston’s birth and death years — ‘61 and ‘19. Accompanying the shoes are two tees, a hat and a tote bag.

Much like the first collection, proceeds from this capsule will go directly to the Hi, How Are You Project, an organization that champions mental health. Bringing things full-circle, the Hi, How Are You project was in fact inspired by Johnston’s music — namely an album of the same name — and art, starting as a one-day initiative in 2018 before morphing into a full-blown charitable endeavor.

Look for the No-Comply x Vans Daniel Johnston collection to release exclusively at No-Comply on June 13 before rolling out to select Vans stockists on June 21. Retail prices have yet to be announced.
