Young Dolph Drops Sobering New Single "Sunshine"
Produced by DJ Squeeky.
Young Dolph has dropped a brand new single titled “Sunshine.” After collaborating with Key Glock on “1 Hell of a Life,” the Memphis rapper has opted to place emphasis on his lyrical abilities this time around.
The song measures at a little under the three-minute mark and sees Young Dolph heavily addressing the current COVID-19 crisis. The opening line of the song is one such example “Sh*t, listenin’ to the president talkin’ ’bout the Chinese flu and / Just like everybody else, n*gga, I been quarantining,” followed by two lines in the chorus “God, please watch over the nurses and doctors on the frontlines (God, please) / I can’t wait ’til the clouds gone and we get sunshine (Sunshine).” Dolph’s deep Southern vocal inflections blend seamlessly with the sinister trap-tinged instrumentals, made up of pounding 808s and high-pitched synth notes that soar over the nocturnal sounds — courtesy of producer DJ Squeeky. Accompanying the track is a candid music video where the rapper is seen in isolation indoors and outside, jamming out to the heavy banger.
