John Woo's 'The Killer' Now Available to Stream on Supreme Website
Following Supreme’s Fall 2018 collaboration with the famed director.
Back in October 2018, Supreme released a collaboration with Hong Kong director John Woo. The collection paid homage to one of Woo’s most iconic films, 1989’s The Killer. Now, the streetwear brand has made the English dub of the full movie available to stream on its website.
The Killer stars Chow Yun-fat as assassin Ah Jong, who embarks on one last hit to collect money for eye surgery for a singer he accidentally blinded in a shootout. Chow and Woo had previously worked together on 1986’s A Better Tomorrow and its 1987 sequel.
The Killer was not an immediate success upon its release in Hong Kong, but it went on to achieve greater international fame. It collected Woo the Best Director award at the 1990 Hong Kong Film Awards, where it was also nominated for Best Picture. The movie has since inspired filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino.
Woo continued to work with Chow on action films such as Once a Thief and Hard Boiled. The director later found noteriety in the West when he directed Hollywood action films such as Mission: Impossible 2 and Face/Off, before returning to work in Asia.
Supreme and Woo’s Fall 2018 collaboration included jackets, hoodies, T-shirts and skate decks emblazoned with stills and dialogue from The Killer. Tees from the collection can still be found on StockX, with prices starting at $120 USD, and skate decks for $190 USD.
