LA-based artist Matt McCormick returns with a new apparel collection called “Eight Miles High.” The fresh collection of wares include hoodies, T-shirts, and shorts featuring graphics inspired by McCormick’s original paintings. Graphics of Old West figures, skeletons, flowers, and ambitious phrases such as “All I Leave Behind Is Only What I Found” are emblazoned across the items. Highlighted pieces include a heather grey sweatshirt embellished with a large illustration of a cowboy, and black shorts portraying an inverted collage of scorpions and “Lost Gods” text.
McCormick describes the motifs in the collection: “We saw the nations counter culture reeling from the protest and destruction of the Vietnam war. It was time to return West, but now with open eyes. We couldn’t unsee what we saw but yearned for a new perspective. Times were changin’ and we were too. Did you ever smile at some people, and all they ever seemed to do was stare? Nowhere is there warmth to be found amongst those afraid of losing their ground.”
The first delivery for “Eight Miles High” will launch on May 8 and the second drop will be available on May 15. All items will be up for grabs on Matt McCormick’s One of These Days web shop.
